Duncan Peak Overlooks Russian River

I have been looking for a place to set up with a good view of Russian River and finally found a scene  from Alexander Valley Campground. The blue of the sky reflection on the surface of the river changed throughout the morning.

Fort Ross Cove

I took my painting gear to Fort Ross a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not sure this painting is finished. Maybe the trees need to be fleshed out more?

Truitt-Hurst Winery

Yesterday's Monday Morning Painter's venue was Truitt-Hurst Winery, along Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg. The day was glorious and the grounds of the winery were fabulous, with river views, flower and vegetable gardens, old machinery, buildings, and of course the vineyards.
In this painting, I toned my canvas with English Red and tried to use simple brush strokes to convey the scene.

A Farm Along the River

Looking for a place to paint, my friend and I drove out to the end of West Dry Creek in Healdsburg. Here we found the first of the ubiquitous mustard that blooms in vineyards at the beginning of late winter. In the background Mount Saint Helena rises. I like the rhythm of this painting for the day did sing to us.

Olives and Mustard

Lots'a little paintings

Working as a plein air painter in freezing weather is not fun, so I moved my studio onto my kitchen counter where I can paint from photos and can keep warm.
