Painting on Wine Glasses

Volunteering to paint 36 wine glasses seemed easy, at first It took some time to get used to the paint, but I finally came up with a technique that worked for me. These wine glasses are for a Russian River Wine Tour next February. My compensation is a case of wine with bottles from each of the participating wineries, as well as a featured artist show at Balletto Winery in 2020. I hope I'm still around to hang the show.

Barn on Limerick Lane

This 16" x 20" painting is on wood panel. I took the panel out in the vineyard and began the image.
I have painted this scene before, probably about 5 or 6 years ago. That painting was done in early spring, while this is an autumn painting. The painting style is different, with more paint and a bit of gusto, yet still similar.

A painting from 2014 that I pulled off the shelf and added more paint, giving the scene added depth and interest.

Arista Vineyard

A plein air painting from going out with the revived Monday Morning Painting Group last Monday. It was wonderful to see painting buddies from several years ago, and to meet new painters who joined the group. I took several liberties with this painting, changing the color of the barn and repositioning the trees. .

Fields in France after Van Gogh

To begin this painting, I laid down Light Molding Paste to create a highly textured, absorbent surface. Then I riffled through my box of oil paints to find some greens I don't normally use. Viola! I love the colors, contrast and patterns.

Another "after VanGogh" painting. I haven't been impressed with Van Gogh until I reproduced these two paintings. His understanding of composition and perspective is impeccable. I have learned a great deal by copying these landscapes.

Trailhead Paintings

A larger painting from the smaller one below. Hiking on Lake Sonoma trails, I took the No Name Path to the top and kept going up and found this view at 7:30am. The shadows were moving fast as the sun came over the hill, so I quickly snapped a couple of photos.

A couple of paintings that I am working on. At the top is my rendition of a menage of Cezanne's paintings. Cezanne is a favorite artist of mine. The lower painting uses the bright colors that appeal to me.

Abstracted Landscapes

These paintings have an underlay of Williamsburg Lead Oil Ground which gives the painting surface lots of texture. After the ground dries, the painting is created with oil paint.
