Patterns of Spring

This view is just off Highway 101, near Geyserville.
The fog is lifting and the mustard is just beginning to bloom.

In the Shadow of the Bridge

I took this photograph while in Sydney, Australia about 30 years ago.
It wasn't until I started this painting that I became aware of the shadow and what it represented.

Above Wine Creek Road

A gorgeous day, looking toward St Helena, from a Healdsburg vineyard after a rain.
I took liberties with the new green leaves of the spring vines.
The wind forced us to quit after an hour and a half.

Mustard in the Walnut Orchard

Because January has been so dry, very little mustard is blooming, but out painting in Kenwood a couple weeks ago, we found one of the few fields of mustard under a walnut orchard. The mustard took on a neon glow; the leafless branches appeared soft and slightly mauve to my eye. This painting seems in need of a counter weight on the left side, so it may not be finished.
