Valley Barnstead

This image is painted on a wood panel that has been primed with two coats of gesso, then one coat of lead oil ground. Painting on wood panes dates back centuries, but is a new and wonderful experience for me. If the painting is a failure, it can be sanded down when dry, then recoated with lead oil ground, and, viola, a new painting surface.
